There is an old Southern saying that goes this way “there is a lid for every pot.” Meaning there is someone out there for everyone. It’s just a question of how long would it take to meet the right one? There are people that meet their match early in life and there are some that took a while. Some people get hopeless and while others continue to persist. How long does one have to hold on? There are times frustration sets in and the yearning to find the right person goes down the drain. So what are the reasons why one shouldn’t just give up in finding his or her true one?

1. LOVE. The need to love and be loved in return, is part of human nature. Love makes a person feel complete. To have somebody who will accept, his or her being, despite the flaws. To be wanted as they are, and be there when he or she is down. To have someone share the obstacles in life and know that together they can survive it all, at the same time share the happiness that comes their way.

2. COMPANIONSHIP. Nobody wants to be alone. Adam, the first man ever created needed Eve to be his lifetime partner. Even the animals that went into Noah’s before the great big flood went in pairs. Having someone to talk to, going to places and growing old with.

3. FAMILY. Raising a family, by having children out of love, is the most intimate relationship of all. Bringing up kid is not easy at all. Waking up at night, tending to them when they are sick, sending them to school and eventually letting them go when they have grown up and ready to tackle their own lives. Children need both parents during social and physical development process. Although many single parents are able to raise healthy successful children, generally it is better having two parents together working to achieve this goal.

4. FINANCIAL SECURITY. During these difficult economic times, being financially secure with the present job is no longer assuring. Probably, one way or another, one loses his or her own job, or gets sick. Knowing that there is someone to help you get through tough times, including financial dificulties is comforting.

5. LONGER LIFE. Various studies indicate that persons with a partner tend to live longer than their single counterparts. A 2006 study conducted by University of California researchers indicated that single persons are five times more prone to die of infectious disease, nearly 40% more probable to die of heart complications and more likely to die of accidents. Having a partner to consider and take care of each other makes one more cautious of their health.

While there is life, one must never lose hope. Giving up is not easy, it means, giving up on love, companionship, family, security and a chance for a longer life. These are reasons enough why one shouldn’t give up finding the right partner.
